  2. 1920 - Sidney PresseyMechanical Teaching Machines Students could be tested on their knowledge and immediately know the results. This impacted Educational Technology in a way that students could get tested through a machine and get immediate feedback.

  3. 1920’s – The Motion Picture / Educational Film The motion picture was born and it’s usefulness on education was explored. Soon film would explode as a pervasive communication system. Educational film impacted Educational Technology in a huge way, film in my opinion is one of the best ways to communicate. Ex. News, Special coverage, Breaking news.

  4. 1930’s-Teaching By Radio Radio was explored by providing entertainment and news to it’s audience. Radio also impacted Educational Technology in a huge way. Learning wasn’t limited to one place, you could get through and teach someone over the radio.

  5. 1941-U. S. WW II Training Soldiers Training through films and other mediated materials. Training soldiers through film impacted Educational Technology in a way that we now knew that we could get through to anyone anywhere with the help of film.

  6. 1945-Hypertext Hypertext is now hyperlinks. You can click on the underlined world while using a computer and it takes you to more information on that specific word. Hypertext really impacted Educational Technology. Now while researching one topic, your choices were endless. All you had to do was click on a hypertext word and you could than explore that topic.

  7. Late 1940’s – Early 1950’s Television as an instructional tool A lot of experimenting with television as an instructional tool took place. Television as an instructional tool impacted Educational Technology in a way that you could learn in a whole new way.

  8. 1950 – B. F. Skinner Programmed Instruction Focusing on the formulation of behavioral objectives. Breaking instructional content into smaller units. Rewarding correct responses early and often. Skinner impacted Educational Technology in a way that it was easier to learn his way and had a lot of positive outcomes.

  9. 1950 – Benjamin Bloom’s Taxonomy of intellectual behaviors Instructional techniques that varied both instruction and time according to learner requirements(Educational Technology, n.d.). Computer Based Training (CBT) Computer aided Instruction or Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) Bloom impacted Educational Technology in a way that made learning something that could all be done on a computer. Times were changing.

  10. 1980-1990 Computer Based Learning (CBL) Schools Constructivist & Cognitivist learning based Abstract & domain-specific problem solving Preferred technology Micro-worlds Simulations Hypertexts CBL Schools also impacted Educational Technology in a huge way. You were learning almost everything through a computer. Computers were really changing how we learn.

  11. 2000’s-Mobile & Ubiquitous Technologies Cell Phones i-Pads Tabs Boards Mobile and Ubiquitous technology has impacted Educational Technology in a really big way. Everywhere you look people have one of these devices. You can learn anywhere you go.

  12. 2010-The first widespread use of electronic Textbooks in U.S. School E-books for school use became popular. Electronic textbooks impact Educational Technology in a way that students no longer have to pay as much for book costs or have as much storage space for big books, all books can be accessed on their computer.

  13. Today- (CMC) Computer Mediated Communication Interaction between student & instructor is through computer. E-tutoring through forums Instant messaging Video conferencing Etc. CMC has really impacted Educational Technology in a way that you never even have to meet your instructor of student, yet you can still get an education.

  14. Today-Distant Learning Access to learning when you are not in the same place or time. Distant Learning to me is one of the biggest things that has impacted Educational Technology. You can be anywhere, as far as you can image, and still get an education online.
