Nathan’s Parable II Samuel 12:1-9 David’s Reaction Angry with the rich man Worthy of death Punishment should be death Restoration - 4 fold Exodus 22:1 - four sheep for a sheep
Nathan’s Parable Thou art the man David You are the one who has done this Blessed by God Despised commandment Committed sin - murdered Penalty - sword shall not depart
“And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.” 2 Sam. 12:13
Lessons we can learn He was very Courageous Talking to the King Not afraid to do God’s will Heb. 11:32 - “prophets” “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” 1 Cor. 16:13 NKJV
Lessons we can learn A Man of Love Love to tell David about his sin Heb. 12:6-10 To say nothing = Hatred We cannot love someone and not tell them the truth.
Lessons we can learn He was Uncompromising Temptation to white-wash / cover up He was the king - the leader God is no respecter of persons Did not compromise “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” Jude 3 NKJV
Lessons we can learn A Parable is Effective To get an unwelcomed truth across David thought it was a genuine case David committed himself David passed judgment on himself “I have sinned.” 2 Sam. 12:13
Nathan God’s Spokesman He was courageous He was a man of love He was uncompromising He used a Parable
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” Rom. 15:4
