Barhaugh Hall Robinwood North Pennines Activity Centre - Alston, Cumbria The North Pennines Activity Centre, Barhaugh Hall, stands in 9 acres of grounds and is set amongst the rolling hills of the North Pennines. The centre is just north of Alston, in an area designated of 'outstanding natural beauty‘.
Clothing list has been sent home but copies are available at the side of the hall. Please only send what’s on the list
Only bring a small suitcase/holdall as your child will need to be able to carry/wheel it! Please no sweets or drinks or cameras Robinwood will provide all the food the children will need If your child has new footwear please make sure they have broken them in
Travel Wednesday 23rd January • Children to be brought to school at normal time, wearing the clothes they are to wear for the rest of the day, enter school through hall doors • It is best if children can come to school in the footwear they are to be wearing for the day. • On entering the hall, there will be five, named tables for each group. The children will have been told which group there are in. Go to the relevant table.
Travel Checking in: all medication needs to be handed over to the group leader – all medication must be in a clearly named bag with dosage clearly labelled. Hand in the £2.00 pocket money in a named purse / wallet (please name on outside) get from the group leader the named luggage label and attach to case / bag. If your child has travel sickness pills please ensure that they are given in advance of the outward journey and the group leader is given the return journey medication. We will send the children for a toilet trip in their groups once we have registered everyone in When bus has arrived, children will be put into their groups and walk out main entrance to meet the bus on Drumoyne Gardens. Parents are welcome to walk up to the bus with the children to wave off Depart time approximately 9:30am.
Sleeping Arrangements • Dormitories are heated, have toilets and call buttons for emergencies • There are separate dormitories for boys and girls • Dormitories sleep 6 – 12 children in bunk beds • We receive the dormitory numbers / layouts just before the trip and therefore do not tell the children until arrival • Please let us know of any issues your child may have around bed time if it has not been written on the personal information form, be it sleepwalking, bedwetting or needing to have a light on. • Robinwood staff Night shift on duty throughout and in constant contact with group leader
Food Variety of food on offer Breakfast normal toast and cereal Lunch choice of sandwiches Evening meal choice 2 – 3 options Able to get pieces of fruit and drinks of juice (warm and cold) / water throughout the day as and when needed Tuck shop where can buy sweets / pop / souvenirs etc
Travel Friday 25th January – Return Journey • Children will receive breakfast and lunch at Robinwood • Return time at school approximately 4.30pm – when group is en-route and accurate time known text will be sent out to parents • Parents are asked to wait in the school hall for the children, please arrive no more than 10 – 15 minutes prior to ETA • Upon arrival, ALL children will be led through the main entrance and into the hall where parents are to collect • Please do not try and collect children straight from the coach • Each group leader is responsible for ensuring their group go with their appropriate adult so please be patient as all medication needs to be returned.
