OBE-OBE Link Establishment • OBE A broadcasts message that uses a spare bit at the MAC-layer indicating “Point-to-point Link Interest” • OBE A broadcast message includes an OBE identifier that would be quasi-persistent • OBE A message includes a certificate with a public key of OBE A • OBE A message includes other useful information such as • GPS location of OBE A • Safety information (such as velocity) related to OBE A • OBE B verifies OBE A’s certificate, sends a message to OBE A including quasi-static OBE identifier of OBE A indicating interest to connect to OBE A • Message includes an AES session key in an encrypted (using OBE A’s public key) message to OBE A • Message includes certificate of OBE B • Message includes a quasi-static OBE identifier for OBE B • OBE A verifies OBE B’s certificate, starts communicating with OBE B using the AES session key, with the quasi-static identifiers of OBE A and OBE B
