Our Goal is Zero! • Our goal is to have zero • injuries in the class. • It is your responsibility to work • smart and to work safe in • the classroom. • Health and safety are everyone’s responsibility, at home, at school and in the work place.
HAZARD • What is a hazard? A hazard is anything that can hurt you or make you ill. • Types of hazard: Physical, Biological/ Chemical, Ergonomics, Electrical hazard.
How do Chemicals Enter the Body? • INHALATION-breathing in chemicals. • Safety Precaution- Respirators, dust masks, ventilation. • ABSORPTION-through the skin, eyes, mucous membranes , and open wounds. • SafetyPrecaution-Impervious clothing, eye protection, bandages over open wounds. • INGESTION-swallowing chemicals. • SafetyPrecaution-No eating or smoking during work, hand washing, respirators, dust masks • INFECTION-puncture through the skin. • SafetyPrecaution-Gloves, protective clothing.
Safety tips • Check that safety equipment is in • place and in good condition and • that access is not blocked. • Read labels and MSDS of the chemical before use. • Use or wear the personal protective equipment required. • Dispose of products safely. • You must be able to demonstrate • the knowledge of the equipment being • used and the procedures necessary for its safe use.
Safety Tips • Do not go into the darkroom unsupervised. • Do not splash or play with chemicals in the darkroom. • Do not mix chemicals unsupervised in the darkroom. • Always remove aprons, gloves, eye protection when outside of the area where it is required.
Safety Tips • Always use the hand wash stations and disinfectant soap after working in the darkroom. • If there is something in your eyes do not rub your face with your hands, use an eye wash station.
Safety Tips • Do not use electrical equipment in damp or wet areas. • Do not attempt to repair any multimedia equipment, report to the teacher. • Do not overload electrical sockets.
Safety Tips • Unplug every equipment after use such as digital battery chargers, light tables, televisions, video cameras and others. • Do not place any snack or drink beside any studio equipment. • Do not leave loose cords around the classroom.
Finally • If there is an emergency proceed to the nearest exit. • Ask, Ask, Ask. There are no stupid questions. • Never fool around here! Safety is not a game, protect yourself. LIVE SAFE! WORK SMART! T4HIM
