A Climate Data Record of Earth Masses Victor Zlotnicki, JPL • Description • Use gravity data from geodetic laser-ranged satellites., GRACE, CHAMP, and GOCE to construct a time series of Earth masses • Objectives • Apply the latest corrections and models to GRACE and other data to generate grids of Earth Masses • Derive a low degree and order time series from the laser-tracked geodetic satellites, using the same background fields as used for GRACE • Obtain CHAMP and GOCE fields from european partners GRACE Land Data for Dec 2010 • Schedule and Deliverables • 11/2011: add CHAMP data for 2001, 2003 • 12/2011: maintain updated GRACE time series • 11/2012: add GOCE data for 2010 • 12/2012: maintain updated GRACE time series • 6/2013: add GOCE data for 2011 • 6/2013: maintain updated GRACE time series • Accomplishments • Laser Geodetic satellite time series of spherical harmonic degree (2,0) 1976-date, and (2,1), (2,2) since 2002. • GRACE monthly grids optimized for land, 2002-date • GRACE monthly grids optimized for ocean, 2002-date • Postglacial rebound global model grids • ECCO monthly ocean model bottom pressure grids • GLDAS monthly land model total water content grids • Co-Is/Partners • U. Colorado (Prof. J. Wahr), U. South Florida (Prof. D. Chambers), U. Texas-Austin (Prof. S. Bettadpur) MEaSUREs
