Final Year ProjectProject Progress Presentation Title: Development of electrical models for inductive coils used in wireless power systems Paul Burke Electronic and Computer Engineering Supervisor: Dr. Maeve Duffy
Aim of Project • The main aim of the project is to develop Matlab programs to predict the inductance, AC resistance and magnetic field levels of coils used in wireless charging systems. • Testing on prototype coils in the lab to prove results • Simulation using Finite Element Analysis(i.e Ansys Maxwell)
Progress to Date • Develop a Matlab program to calculate the inductance of a coil. • Allows user to enter coil specification • Based on these specifications in calculates inner and outer radii
Progress to Date • Integrates the equation in function file(FNF1) to infinity • Uses this value to calculate inductance(L)
Progress to Date • Develop a Matlab program to calculate the resistance and inductance of a coil • Allow user to enter coil spec Cross Section of coil Divide coil into number of sections Resistance Equation
Project Plan • January – Complete Matlab program to calculate resistance and inductance of coil. Verify results using finite element analysis software. Test prototype coils in Lab • February – Create efficient Matlab code to calculate H-field around coils • March – Review code to make more efficient and write final report
