What is Perfection (cont.) • The quality or state of being perfect or complete, so that nothing requisite is wanting; entire development; consummate culture, skill, or moral excellence; the highest attainable state or degree of excellence; maturity; as, perfection in an art, in a science, or in a system; perfection in form or degree; fruits in perfection.

  4. What are the Positives of a Perfect World? Positives- Looks good if aliens find us - Less murder/violence/crime - More civilised community

  5. What are the Negatives of a Perfect World? • Negatives- Nothing to strive for - More discrimination - Will put the ‘un-perfect’ people out of jobs

Aspects of the Perfect World Depicted in Gattaca The names used in Gattaca represent several aspects of ‘the perfect world.’ Here are a few examples- • Jerome = Genome (Genetic material) • “Eugene” = comes from Greek, which means “well born” • Gattaca = GTCA, symbols for four main chemicals in DNA. • Irene Cassini – the Cassini division is the largest gap in Saturn’s rings
