What is Navigational warnings? Answer question with the underlined words. Passage Three Navigational Warnings Navigational warnings, issued by Hydrographic Offices, are notices that are usually more urgent than Notice to Mariners. They are normally concerned with changes of a temporary nature such as alterations to charts and hydrographic publications as well as changes, or failures, to navigational aids and any other matter that affects the safety of navigation. What is Navigational warnings about?
Such warnings are in text form and promulgated by coastal radio stations and on the NAVTEX system. They are also sent directly to satellite communication centers for international delivery and are coordinated in the sixteen NAVAREAS as part of the World-Wide Navigational Warning Service (WWNWS). Many navigational warnings are of a temporary nature, but others remain in force for several months or may be succeeded by Notices to Mariners.
Radio Navigational Warnings (RNW) The type of information contained in radio navigational warnings is not limited, but the following are some examples: 1)damage to lights and buoys affecting main shipping lanes 2)the presence of dangerous wrecks in or near main shipping lanes and, if relevant, their markings 3)establishment of major new aids to navigation or significant changes to existing ones, when such establishment or change might be misleading to shipping
4)the presence of large, unwieldy tows in congested waters 5)areas where search and rescue (SAR) and anti-pollution operations are being carried out 6)the presence of newly discovered rocks, shoals, reefs and wrecks likely to constitute a danger to shipping, and, if relevant, their markings 7)unexpected alteration or suspension of established routes 8)cable or pipe-laying activities or other underwater operations constituting potential dangers in or near shipping lanes
9)establishment of offshore structures in or near shipping lanes 10)significant malfunctioning of radio navigation services 11)information concerning special operations that might affect the safety of shipping, sometimes over wide areas, eg. naval exercises, missile firings, space missions, nuclear tests 12)derelicts, where the information is recent and sufficiently accurate 13)drifting mines.
There are three types of Radio Navigational Warnings (RNW): NAVAREA warnings, coastal warnings and local warnings.
NAVAREA 1) Navarea I (NE Atlantic)---东北大西洋 2) Navarea II (East Atlantic)---东大西洋 3) Navarea III (Mediterranean)---地中海 4) Navarea IV (NW Atlantic)---西北大西洋 5) Navarea V (W Atlantic)---西大西洋 6) Navarea VI (SW Atlantic) ---西南大西洋 7) Navarea VII (SE Atlantic)---东南大西洋 8) Navarea VIII (Indian Ocean)---印度洋 9) Navarea IX (Percian Gulf, Red Sea, NW Arabian Sea) ---波斯湾,红海,西北阿拉伯海 10) Navarea X (Australia, new Guinea)---澳大利亚,新几内亚 11) Navarea XI (Malacca Strait, China Sea, N Pacific) ---马六甲海峡,中国海,北太平洋 12) Navarea XII (NE Pacific)---东北太平洋 13) Navarea XIII (NW Pacific)---西北太平洋 14) Navarea XIV (SW Pacific)---西南太平洋 15) Navarea XV (SE Pacific)---东南太平洋 16) Navarea XVI ( E Pacific)---东太平洋 还有美国Hydro系统发布的对太平洋和大西洋的航海警告: 17) Hydropacs (Pacific, Indian Ocean)---太平洋,印度洋 18) Hydrolants (Atlantic, Mediterranean)---大西洋,地中海 NAVAREA warnings are concerned with information which ocean-going mariners require for their safe navigation. This includes, in particular, failures of important aids to navigation, as well as information which may require changes to planned navigational routes. These warnings are broadcast on safetyNET and may also be broadcast from appropriate NAVTEX stations. The messages are in English.
Coastal warnings are issued by the national coordinator of the country of origin and give information which is of importance only in a particular region. They should normally provide sufficient information for safe navigation to seaward of the fairway buoy or pilot station and should not be restricted to main shipping lanes. They often supplement the information given in NAVAREA warnings. The message are in English, but may only be in the local language.
Local warningssupplement coastal warnings by giving detailed information within inshore waters including the limits of a harbour or port authority on aspects which the ocean-going ship normally does not require.
