  3. Land • The Netherlands is located in Europe. • It has a few hills, flat lands, and no mountains. • The land is made of clay which makes it good for farming. • Nether stands for low and the land is below sea level. Home

  4. Climate • The Netherlands has cool weather. • It rains a lot. • Rain causes floods • The Dutch built dikes which are big walls located along the sea. • They stopped water from getting into low lands. Home

  5. Clog Shoes • The Dutch use clog shoes to walk on the damp and wet land. • They are wooden and hard with round tips. Home

  6. Windmills • The Dutch used windmills to dry the land. • They put scoop wheels on some of their windmills. • When the wind turned the blades, the scoop wheel moved. • As the wheel moved, it took water from the land. Dutch windmill built in 1862. Home
