Volunteering of older people in EU • Certain countries such as, Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Spain, have recorded an increased involvement of older people in volunteering. • In Germany, the involvement of people aged over 50 years has increased significantly between 1985 and 2005; from 19% to 30%. • In the Netherlands, 41% of 65 to 74 year olds volunteer and nearly every fifth (24%) elderly person aged 75+ is involved in volunteering. • In Austria, 25% of 70 year olds are engaged in volunteering.
