SALEEM BEEBEEJAUN FAMILY Saleem’s maternal great grandfather G M D Atchia was the Lord Mayor of Port Louis and was a member of the Mauritius delegation that took part in the negotiations for the indepedenceof Mauritius with the colonial power, Great Britain. Saleem’s father Dr Ahmed Rashid Beebeejaun is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Birmingham his alma mater.

  4. SALEEM BEEBEEJAUN FAMILY He officially joined politics in 1995 and was an elected member of parliament till 2014 when he chose to retire from active politics. Dr Rashid occupied various ministerial posts and between 2005 and 2014 served as the Deputy Prime Mini-ster. Dr Rashid Beebeejaun is the recipient of the highest distinction that Mauritius can confer namely the Grand Commander of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GCSK)
