Situation • Weather: • Temperature: High 73o Mostly sunny with 70 percent humidity • Regimental Operations clerks will monitor the heat condition and the humidity level • All training will be accomplished IAW the SOP for Heat Prevention of Injuries published 12 August 2006
Mission The Corps of Cadets will conduct Recognition Day activities for the class of 2014 on 20110416 from 0540 until 1900 on The Citadel Campus and Marion Square.
Execution Commander’s Intent: To provide a fulfilling, yet challenging day, to instill pride in achievement and a sense of camaraderie within the class of 2014 through a meaningful recognition process. Phase 1: Corps PT 0540-0650: Corps PT (white shirt cadre only) 0540: First Call in the barracks 0545: Assembly/March to Parade Field for Regimental formation 0600-0620: Corps stationary PT IAW White Book Ch.5 parade field, led by BN C/SGM 0620-0650: Regimental Run (Campus, led by Reg. CO) 0650: Return to barracks for hygiene 0700-0750: Breakfast (Citadel ACU) 0650-0725: Personal Hygiene 0725: First call for breakfast 0730-0750: Meal (mandatory corpswide) 0750-0800: Hydration and rest period in barracks (no additional activities during this time)

Phase 2: Leadership Training 0800-0900: “The Citadel Experience” 0800: Knobs form up for march to BN classroom 0805: “The Citadel Experience” class commences from BN CO 0855: “The Citadel Experience” ends and Knobs move to Co. Classrooms 0900-1000: “Leadership” 0900: “Leadership” class commences from current Co. CO 1000: “Leadership” ends and Knobs move to barracks 1000-1015: Break (no activities during this time) Knobs will drop ACU blouse and cover, fill Camelbacks, make head calls, fill water sources, and prepare for “The Gauntlet”
Phase 3: “The Gauntlet” • 1030-1150: “The Gauntlet” • 1015-1020: Formation for “The Gauntlet” • 1020: Movement to designated areas for “The Gauntlet” • 1030: Commence “The Gauntlet” • 1150: “The Gauntlet” ends • Each company will go to designated starting station, and then rotate to the next station every 8 minutes, sounded by horn. • Rotation will be designated by siren. If a company finishes early, they will use the extra time to hydrate. • Cadet leadership is encouraged to support knobs and participate in event, but will not direct Knobs through events. • Each Station will be manned by an athletic officer to help direct the evolution.
Phase 3: “The Gauntlet” Upperclass Participation - All upperclass cadets are strongly encouraged to take part in The Gauntlet’s activities. Upperclass cadets are reminded, however, that this event is intended primarily for the knobs to instill pride, camaraderie, and teamwork. While upperclass cadets are permitted to participate, they are not permitted to direct teamwork among the Knobs. Strategy and teamwork for events such as the Medevac and the Sandbag Barrier Build are to be determined solely by the Knob class. - Designate 1 upperclass photographer per company

Station 1: Tire Flip Station 1: Tire Flip There will be two tires. Knobs will be split by upperclassmen into two teams and will compete in a relay. • -First, 4 knobs from each team will conduct a 25m tire flip, then roll the tire back to the starting position. Each team will do this until all members have completed tire flips (If the number does not work out evenly, add or subtract to the amount of knobs flipping the tire). • The next 1-3 knobs will do 20 decline pushups with feet elevated on the tire, then they will sprint to the 25m cone and back. This will be completed in groups until all knobs on both teams have completed this event. • Lastly, each knob will complete one lap around the rim of the tire in the inclined leaning rest position, then will complete a sprint to the 25m cone and back. Every team member will do this one at a time. • Any remaining time will be spent hydrating and stretching
Station 2: Log PT Station 2: Log PT - overhead press, bicep curls, sit-ups, Knobs will be distributed evenly among 3 logs. Knobs will complete one 2 minute round conducting each of the above exercises. This will total 6 minutes of activity. 2 minutes are allotted for knobs to maneuver the log.
Station 3: Group Push-Ups Station 3: Group Pushups 20 reps in a line (8 knobs per line) 20 reps in box formation 25m alligator pushups Any extra time will be spent hydrating and/or stretching
Station 4: Ammo Can Relay Race Station 4: Ammo can relay Knobs will be assorted into 4 separate teams by upperclassmen. Each team will compete to be the first to complete the following: -Every Knob in each team will complete a 50m farmer’s walk to a 25m cone and back -Every knob will then complete a 50m lunge to the 25m cone and back.
Station 5: Human Tunnel Station 5: Human tunnel The human tunnel will be conducted throughout the entire 8 minute period in a circular formation around Station 5’s designated area.
Station 6: Circuit Station Station 6: Circuit Station 2min each- pushups, 8-count body builders, squats, flutter kicks Knobs will be broken into four groups. 1 upperclassmen in the middle of the circle to lead each station.
Station 7: Sandbag Barrier Build Station 7: Sandbag barrier build Knobs will first be instructed to build a barrier on the opposite side of the station from the sandbags are staged. When the first barrier is completed, knobs will then be instructed to make a machine gun nest on the opposite side of the field. Each different group will alternate between building walls on the east and west sides of the stations and the north and south sides of the station.
Station 8: Medevac Station 8: Low crawl, cradle drop drag into stretcher carry Knobs will compete in 2 teams of 4 at a time doing a law crawl for ~100 feet, a buddy drag for ~100 feet, then a 200 foot stretcher carry back to where they started. This will continue until time expires.
Station 9: Wheelbarrows and Fireman Carry • -All knobs will simultaneously conduct wheelbarrows down to the 50m cone, then switch partners and come back. • After all Knobs have completed wheelbarrows down and back, the same partners will be used to conduct fireman carries. • This cycle will be repeated for the full duration of the 8 minutes. Upperclassmen are required to participate
Station 10: Burpee Long Jumps -Knobs will all complete burpee longjumps to a 25m cone and back. Upon completion of the burpee longjumps, knobs will then do a crabwalk to the 25m cone and back. -Remaining time will be spent hydrating/stretching

Phase 3: Cadet Photographers • Each company will designate one cadet to take photos. • Names of designated cadets will be sent by each company to C/MAJ Roehl. Designated cadets are required to wear ACU covers to designate themselves during the event.
Phase 4: Knob Recognition 1150-1230: Victory Lap and Class Set 1150: Form for Victory Run and return to respective BNs upon completion of run 1200: Knobs begin class set after all BNs have reported all companies present 1210: Address by Regimental Co. 1215: “Home Sweet Home” bag piped over 1MC 1220: 4th Class System ends 1220-1230: Knob Recognition 1230-1400: Regimental BBQ 1400-1440: Personal Hygiene
Phase 5: March to Marion Square • 1500-1800: March to Marion Square • (uniform is Summer Leave) • 1445: First Call for march to Marion Square • 1450: Assembly and march to start point (Lesense Gate) • 1500: March off to Marion Square [hardtime] Led by Commanders • 1530: “Oath Renewal on the Citadel Green” [approximate] • 1600: March back to campus [approximate] Led by rising Commanders • Route: • Straight on Moultrie Street • Right on King Street to Marion Square • Order of March: • Regimental Commander • Color Guard • 1st Bn • Band detachment • 2nd Bn • 3rd Bn • 4th Bn • 5th Bn • *1st Sgt.’s are to call cadence due to noise restraints. Command • Senior chain of command will be in effect for execution for Recognition Day activities, with rising leadership present to assist and support. • Command authority will rest with chain of command. • Commanders will be in a place to attain necessary supervision of their units at all times. • Rising CO’s and 1SG’s will take knobs back from Marion Square.
