  3. The Fruits of Good Management refund Cost per hour down 8.6% $100,000 refunded to the Board of County Commissioners. $50,000 refunded to the Polk Transit. Municipal refunds to WHAT funding partners (TBD)

  4. Moving the cost of county roads, bridges, and public transit away from exclusive taxation of homeowners and business owners of Polk County onto a sales tax based system shared by tourists, visitors, and everyone equally. FUNDING STRATEGY “The swap”

  5. . • Remove 1 mil for roads from all Polk County Home and Business Owners. • Remove .5 mil from LAMTD Homeowners and Businesses in Polk County. SWAP STRATEGY • Effect: • 1 mil reduction in Polk County. • 1.5 mil reduction in the District. • Implement a 1 cent sales surtax Countywide: • ½ cent for roads and bridges. • ½ cent for transit.

Impacts / positive + for commercial and residential real estate markets. + expanded access for businesses. + regional mobility options for all 17 Municipalities and Poinciana. + “Fair” tax. 20% paid for by tourists + Sales tax does not include utilities, rent, mortgage, prescriptions, non-prepared foods, machinery for new or expanded business, labor, parts and equipment for new or expanded businesses, electricity used in manufacturing. • Taxed on first $5,000 of purchase only. • HB 7007 provides 3 years of existing manufacturing sales tax exemptions
