  1. Nanowire Quantum-Dot Solar Cells Daniel C. Ralph, Cornell University, ECCS - 0335765 The efficiency of solar cells based on PbSe quantum dots (QDs) and ZnO films is increased by replacing the ZnO films with a vertically oriented array of single-crystalline ZnOnanowires, and infiltrating this array with QDs. This work has demonstrated a new type of solar cell based on PbSe QDs and ZnOnanowires. With 100 mW/cm2 illumination these solar cells exhibit efficiencies of up to 2%. It has also been shown that nanowires improve exciton collection efficiency in QD solar cells. ErayAydil, David Norris, KurtisLeschkies and Alan Jacobs, University of Minnesota. Work performed at the Nanofabrication Center, University of Minnesota.
