MIS 204 Project By: Josh Nosbisch AGR Productions
What? • AGR Productions is a company devoted to the production, sales, and promotion of products using the artistic talents of our employees.
…What kind of Products? • The primary product of AGR will be Custom painted skateboards. • However, we will also paint cars, bikes, boats, and so on • We will also do contracted murals for businesses, cities, and for individuals looking to make a wall more interesting • Clothing will also be designed/sold once a steady profit margin is attained
Skateboards? Murals? Yes…Both have potential, and both are cheap and easy to do. Skateboards Unlike other companies, we will do them by hand, and only produce 3-5 copies of each. We will also do ideas sent in by the customer, and will reproduce those ideas with their consent. • Murals: • a maximum of 6 colors are needed to paint a mural. • 1 quart of paint (oil based) can cover a surface of about 50x50 feet, depending on the surface. • With 1 person working, a 30x9 foot mural can be done in around 15 hours
The boards themselves will be bought online at a bulk dealer • Each comes with complimentary grip tape…which normally go for around 6-7$ • Once they are painted, a picture will be uploaded to our websites extensive gallery • The flat rate for all boards will be 30-35$ • more complicated designs will enter a bidding room…the highest bidder will get the board. • This way, not only does the individual get the board, but we as a company get the maximum possible profit
What about sales? • Initially, we plan to sell about 10 boards every month for the first 6 month • After this time period runs out, we plan to increase sales by 5 every 6-8 weeks. • With this plan, estimated revenue is, well…who knows. • As for contract jobs, we will initially do projects only for businesses and such within a 30 mile radius of our base of operations • Once we establish a more stable revenue base, we plan to expand that to a global operation
And this Base of operation is where? • Fictionally it is 415 Main Street, New Kensington…a large warehouse complex. • Currently it is my house, but the warehouse is our structure of interest.
A Warehouse? Precisely…it will meet all of needs, and also be a suitable location allowing for our numerous ideas to flourish, some of which are as follows • An Indoor Skate park • A Sales floor on the edge of the park • A production studio • A storage facility
Sounds big…How many people are involved currently? At the moment, there are 4 people involved, however in the future we will seek to employ around 15 people. As each member is artistically talented, each will be flexible, and rotation between jobs will occur to maintain a positive and less repetitive working atmosphere. • They will consist of: • A manager, me • 5-6 designers, including myself • 3-4 mural painters, for the contract jobs • An accountant • A webpage editor • Also, a rotating group of interns interested in other art related fields
What kind of equipment will you be using? • A dedicated desktop for all storage and sales tracking/monitoring. • Preferably an Alienware • Second choice is a Mac, as Mac computers are excellent for media related projects • Around 6 laptops will also be used • Portable media display will be important for our contract jobs, as well as to keep a steady flow of ideas
Internet? Output? Input? Internet/ Input Output Surround sound speaker system to blast music throughout the building A printer, so all online and in-store sales and orders can be printed in hard copy and stored • Verizon DSL • Wireless LAN for the laptops • A hardline will be run throughout the store in case of a wireless malfunction • As for input devices… • A keyboard, camera, and POS system for in-store purchases…that’s about it
Storage? We will use multiple means of storage to ensure our data is protected and easily accessible upon the incident of a failure. Multiple 2gb flash drives for contracting jobs 300gb internal hard drive (laptops) • An in-store server • A single 1tb external hard drive • An internal 400gb hard drive (Desktop)
As for Software… • Microsoft word for any text related areas • PowerPoint for any presentations • Excel for any and all spreadsheets and management • As for communication, we will have a landline, as well as multiple cell phones around the store. Also, we will use the VOCP voice messaging system to send out sales info and other mass customer information • Adobe Photoshop for all computerized graphics • Microsoft Expression for webpage design
…Data… • All product, customer, employee, equipment, and sales information will be stored in an Excel spreadsheet • Simplicity is key, they fewer components to the business, the fewer chances of failure • Product information will also be posted on an online gallery underneath or next to the photo
Procedures Opening: Closing: Opposite of everything stated here Normal hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. • Manager arrives 45 minutes prior to opening • Switches on all power, begins playlist for the day • Check email and product lists for potential update/cancellations of orders • Check temperature levels • Skim the skate park to check for any damage/faults in the wood and ramps
Backup and Failure Procedures Backup: Failure: If a system fails, all actions would be moved to another method of access, such as a laptop. Upon failure of every possible method of technology, the paper records would be consulted. • All systems will be saved on the server, the system hard drive, an external hard drive, and any online sales/orders will also be filed on paper, which will be discarded every 30 days, and also kept on a USB flash drive
In Conclusion… • AGR will use basic software programs to maintain a simple and efficient working atmosphere • Due to the artistic nature of our productions, the emphasis will be on the employee instead of the hardware/software • Also, due to the ever expanding areas of art, innovations will be easily combined with current techniques
