Welcome • Thank you for partnering with New Relic. • We look forward to providing your customers with powerful, easy-to-use application performance monitoring.
Goals • Introduce partners to the program • Outline components of a successful integration • Initiate pre launch activities
A Typical Integration • Introductory meeting • Set up test accounts on staging server • Co-marketing planning • SSO • Co-Branding • Sign-up placement • Provisioning • Console integration — partner API • Test on staging • Set up partnership on production server • Establish support plan • Walkthrough integration & sign-off • Planning for billing
Your Partnership • Partnership Owner Account • Admin on Partnership Owner Account • Partnership name and id • Staging and Production
Partnership Structure User (account owner) 1: n Partnership Owner (Account) User User User (admin or standard) 1: n Partnership 1: n User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) User (account owner) Account User Subscription 1: 1 1: n other accounts
Partner API • Create, edit, upgrade, downgrade and cancel New Relic accounts • Change subscriptions • Keep user records aligned • RESTful • Secure
Partner API • Extensions to your internal systems will be required in order to store information returned by account creation calls • Please plan for this
Single Sign On and Access Control • Transparent hand off to New Relic site • Unified experience, reinforces co-branding • No re-authentication required • Shared secret authentication • SHA1 digest of request parameters and shared secret • Optional nav data in request
Demonstration Partnership • Fully functional partnership integrated with the New Relic site • Example code • Available to partners
Co-Branding Elements • Header and footer with css • Redirect URLs • Custom subdomain
Account and Agent Provisioning • Sign-ups that do not deploy in 48 hours are unlikely (+99%) to ever deploy • Do all that is possible to ensure immediate deployment • Auto provisioning and deploy preferred to manual provisioning and deploy • If you do auto deploy, tell the customer
Placement • Partners with prominent placement of the New Relic sign-up drive higher levels of sign-ups • Burying the New Relic sign-up deep in your website will reduce sign-ups
Driving upgrades through creating awareness • Dashboard widget • custom css • Data API
Staging and Production • Staging is your sandbox • All features function in staging • Promotion to production with minimal modification • Be aware of what will need to change for production • Production is not a sandbox • DO NOT run tests (beyond those essential to verify functionality) in production • Testing flag
Support • Partner responsible for agent install and deployment support (first level) • Training for your supporters • KB resources • Escalation procedure • Zendesk integration
Partnerships Tab • Administrative console for Partners • Set and edit partnership parameters • Monitor performance of customers • Partner Integration Guide
Other Settings • Download Link Display • Show java agent link • Show yml link • Welcome messages • Signup message: A customized welcome message. • Hide/show banner welcome message • Hide/show invoice welcome message • Email control • Send deploy reminders • Send trial emails • Billing email • For Partnership where the billing method is “Reseller” and invoices should be directed to the attention of a specific party. • Feature access • Server monitoring • User administration
Integration Assistance • In San Francisco or Portland • Paired development • Email • Recommended integrators
Do’s and Don’ts • Do not run tests in Production • Do run tests in Staging • Please clean up after yourself if you create large numbers of accounts • Do not run apps under the Partnership Owner Account (it’s not in the partnership) • Do not create accounts for customers using “fake” ids • Do use the Partnership tab for editing settings • Do not create new accounts to modify account attributes or subscription level • Do use the appropriate API call to modify existing accounts and subscriptions
Sign-off Meeting • Conference call with screen-share • Integration walk through • Marketing and PR coordination • Support introduction and hand-off • Test accounts • Billing coordination
