Security Overview • Data is housed in Oracle • Uses an encrypted web session (https://) connection which provides for safe log in and log out • Uses kerberos security (no one can pretend to be you) • Fund and organization security is tied to kerberos security so you have a unique profile
Security Overview • Product is rather “paranoid” • Logs user off after a certain time • Does not allow user to have more than one session at any given time • Product is developed by SCT, is widely used, and has been tested in many environments • Contact Kevin Davidson if you have more security concerns or questions

Financial Services Features • Create your own query • Account balances are “real-time” • Allows user to: • accessInstitute and grant/contract budgets • download data to spreadsheet • review transaction detail • build comparative data queries
Creating Queries • Two types of queries • Budget Status by Account Code (eg. 6310) • Organizational Hierarchy- returns summarized data by organization code
Three Steps to Create Query • Select type of query • Select columns to display (See STEP TWO in handout) 3. Select parameters for your query (chart, fiscal year, fiscal period, & either organization or grant code required) You have the option of saving query at step 2 or 3
Grant and Contract Variances • Security Issues • In addition to fund code, each grant has a grant number • Grant number contains prefix to designate department (see list attached to handout) • User can retrieve grant number by utilizing look-up feature
Grant and Contract Variances • To retrieve all grant expense, leave organization code blank • Budget data returned “Year to Date” is grant or contract inception to date • Grant and Contract variances are highlighted in green font in handout
Tips • Use “Quick Links” on RHIT web pages to log-on • Required parameters • Chart of accounts “2” • Fiscal year • Fiscal period • Either grant code or organization code • For current balance be sure to choose current fiscal period • Utilize look-up feature • Save downloaded data in secure location
