Guidance to the OPTN/UNOS Executive Committee (June 2013) • Executive Committee requested that the Ethics Committee review ethical principles of organ allocation as related to the pediatric lung allocation issue raised by a candidate’s family and under court review. • Provided guidance on assessing the fairness of organ allocation policy according to ethical principles of justice and utility as well as identified ethical concerns with potential judicial interference into allocation policy.
Position Statement - DCD • June 2013 – Board approved DCD in the Neurologically Aware Population position statement drafted by the Ethics Committee • Fulfills the need for ethical guidance and supports the coordination of DCD in the neurologically aware population in appropriate cases.
