You will be working in groups of… • You can work by yourself • You can work in pairs of 2 • Or you may work in a group of 3 • Everyone must have a list of the Vocabulary in UNIT 1 in their notes. • Everyone must participate.
--An Introduction to Unit 1 Vocabulary-- • Foundational elements • Symbols (of the US government and otherwise) • Democracy (indirect vs. direct) • Dictatorship (oligarchy and autocracy) • Declaration of Independence • Equality vs. Fairness • Natural Rights of Man (life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) • Rule of law
Assignment 2: Choose 1 of the 8 concepts to write a paragraph explanation about. In your explanation you must give the following: • Definition of your selected concept • Real world example or comparison to something else • Where did you find the information about this concept?
Assignment 3: Draw a political cartoon about 1 of the 8 concepts. Must include a 3 sentence explanation of your picture (cartoon).
Assignment 4: After discussing the concepts from the list above, develop a value scale that shows the words you feel the most confident in remembering to the terms you feel the least confident in remembering (1. You know the best…..8. You still have no clue or struggle to remember the concept)
