Why the Diploma matters • Travel and Tourism and Passenger Transport are growing sectors and have economic importance • Current provision of qualifications are perceived as unsatisfactory by employers and do not command their respect • There is a demand from employers to raise the profile of the industries and for there to be an understanding of the breadth of the different industries
Vision • The Diploma in Travel and Tourism will bring together the Passenger Transport and Travel and Tourism industries • Cover the breath and diversity of these dynamic, complex, exciting and highly competitive industries • A qualification to bring the industries alive • Rightly reflect the sector as fun and one that can bring considerable rewards. • Places people at the centre and change young peoples’ perception about customer service and working with people

Qualification Development • Qualification review group of internal SSC staff – review all units submitted by awarding bodies • DDP Qualification and curriculum working group – stakeholder group: FE, HE, Employers, SSCs, training providers, with independent Chair – will be assigned units to sample relating to their specialism • QCA and DDP collate feedback for ABs
