  1. Week 8 IT 28 ‘ian’ / ‘ion’ suffixes, person words and abstract nouns • This teacher led activity revisits the person word morpheme ‘ian’ from weeks 6 and 7, along with the introduction of the ‘ion’ morpheme to form abstract nouns. • Children are reminded of the ‘ian’ person ending and asked in a series of questions to add the appropriate morpheme by deciding if the new word is a person word (‘ian’) or not (‘ion’). • Children see the stem word and are asked to think which type of word they will be making, person word or not, and then prompted to write by the pencil symbol appearing on screen. • Children have an answer sheet (see next slide) which needs to be printed off before the lesson. • After the children have had chance to write down their decision and say why they chose a certain morpheme, correct feedback appears on the screen. • At the end of the task, children are asked to make 2 lists of words, the person words and the non-person (nouns). There is a space on their worksheet to write these 2 lists. • A slide with correct feedback appears at the end for them to check against their lists.
