Welcome to Kindergarten Back to School Night! This event will provide an overview of the expectations for students, as well as the Language Arts and Math curriculum. We will also discuss handwriting, homework, behavior charts, breakfast and lunch routines, and important reminders. Don't forget to check the website, email, and sign up for Remind notifications!

Welcome to Kindergarten Back to School Night September 4, 2019
Expectations: • Knowledge of all letters uppercase & lowercase • Knowledge of letter sounds • Knowledge of numbers 0-30 • Familiarity with scissors, glue, pencils, crayons • Ability to open and close appropriate size schoolbag independently • Understand role of teacher as leader • Understand role of student as listener, follower of rules
Language Arts Curriculum • Into Reading- 9 Modules with stories, skills and high frequency words & a test at the end of each
Math Curriculum Go Math! Kindergarten Program Chapter 1-Represent, Count and Write Numbers 0 to 5 (11 instructional days/2 assessment days) Chapter 2- Compare Numbers to 5(6 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 3- Represent, Count, and Write Numbers 6 to 9 (10 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 4-Represent and Compare Numbers to 10(8 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 5- Addition (13 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 6 –Subtraction (8 instructional days /2 assessment days)
Math Curriculum cont’d Go Math! Kindergarten Program Chapter 7-Represent, Count and Write 11 to 19 (12 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 8-Represent, Count and Write 20 and Beyond (9 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 9-Identify and Describe Two-Dimensional Shapes (13 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 10-Identify and Describe Three-Dimensional Shapes (10 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 11-Measurement (9 instructional days /2 assessment days) Chapter 12-Classify and Sort Data (11 instructional days /2 assessment days)
Handwriting • Reversals of letters or numbers • Mirror writing • First letter of name uppercase • Inventive spelling
Homework • Homework sheet will come home each week • LA Homework • Module intro note/reading log/letter race weekly • Math Homework • Math workbook will stay at home • Homework Helper instructions
Breakfast & Lunch • The menus will be sent in an email from Mr. Rogers & are different from the menus for grades 1-5 • Review the menu option with your child each day • Encourage independence for opening drinks/food • Review rules for cleaning up after they’ve finished: • When breakfast or lunch time is over they must clean up and get ready for work • Throw away trash • Clean up crumbs and place them in the trash • Clean up any spills with paper towel
Important Reminders • Check & empty your child’s folder each night • If your child will be absent from school please call the attendance line 610-622-6755 & send in a note when your child returns to school or through email: Primos Email Address for Electronic Absence Notespes-attendance@upperdarbysd.org • Dismissal: If your child will be going home a different way than usual please let me know by sending in a note or calling the office
