  4. Course Description The students will: • Continue their development in writing • Focus on the structure of a five paragraph essay • Develop grammar and vocabulary skills • Learn basic research skills and participate in oral presentations

  5. Writing • Narrative • Informational • Opinion • Poetry

  6. Oral reports • Three presentations • 2 to 3 minutes in length • Note cards with bullet points

  7. PSSA Writing Rubric They are graded on the following: • Focus • Content • Organization • Style • Conventions

  8. Grammar Focus on: • The Sentence • Parts of Speech • Improved grammar skills • Better writing and communication

  9. Writing Writer’s Notebook • Collection of thoughts • Favorite leads and endings • Opinions • Precepts • Poems • Photographs and drawings • Quotes • Stories • NOT GRADED 
