Student Affairs and Residence Operations Mission In support of the mission of the University, the Division of Student Affairs & Residence Operations is committed to the personal, social, and intellectual development of students as they live and learn within a diverse community. Programs, services, outreach activities will enhance the ability of current and prospective students to apply learning outcomes as they develop independent thought, take advantage of community involvement, and understand global responsibility.

Student Affairs and Residence Operations Operational Scope of Student Affairs • The Directorate of SARO currently is made up of seven departments that are: • Accommodation, Residence Life & Catering; • Health Services; • HIV And AIDS Centre; • Counseling & Support Services: • Financial Aid • Sports & Recreation • And Student Life and Governance
Student Affairs and Residence Operations Accommodation Residence Life & Catering: • RESIDENCES • 30 residences • 272 buildings • 10 449 students are being accommodated • Residences at: • - Soshanguve • - Ga-Rankuwa • - Pretoria • - Witbank • - Nelspruit
Student Affairs and Residence Operations Flats • 3 blocks of flats: • -352 flats/apartments in total • TUT staff and students as well as the public can rent flats • Flat rates are market related • 100 % occupation
Student Affairs and Residence Operations GUEST HOUSES • Located in Sunnyside & Nelspruit • Kosmos Guest House: -72 Nzasm Guest House: -5 Nelspruit:- 2 flats • Main object of guest houses to accommodate short course attendees, lecturers and national and international guests

Student Affairs and Residence Operations Counselling & Support • Individual, couple and group counselling • Conduct psychological assessment • Seminars and workshops on life-skills e.g relationship problems, bereavement & loss, adjustment issues, interpersonal skills and self management • Offer support to referred from campus health and HIV & AIDS units • Offer seminars to Residence Managers and Supervisors e.g Leadership and Interpersonal skills • Offer support to students with disability. • Offer support to international students • Roll out the Peer helper programmes.
