Arsen Pochkhua was a multifaceted artist and musician. He was born in Kutaisi, Georgia, and lived his entire career in this region. He studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatory and worked as a musician in the Georgian State Symphony Orchestra. Simultaneously with music, he began to engage in art and became a famous engraver, graphic artist and sculptor.<br>Arsene Pochkhua created amazing works of art, including carvings of boxwood, mother of pearl, crystal glass and many other materials. His works were recognized as unique and were presented at exhibitions both in Georgia and abroad.

ArsenPochkhua was born on August 22, 1923 in the city of Kutaisi (Georgia). In 1944 - 1949, he studied at the orchestra faculty of the Tbilisi State Conservatory "V. Sarajishvili" - in the viola class. In 1945 - 1982, he worked as a musician in the State Symphony Orchestra of Georgia and as a viola and chamber ensemble teacher in the Tbilisi Music School "D. Arakishvili". In 1946, the artist Lado Gudiashvili became acquainted with Pochkhua's graphics and invited him to participate in the painting of the Kvashet Church. In 1951, Pochkhua participated in the Republican Poster Contest and won First Prize. Subsequently, he participated in several more republican and all-Soviet poster exhibitions. In 1955, Pochkhua for the first time exhibited at the general republican exhibition his works in carving technique - carving on boxwood and mother-of-pearl. In 1960, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1978, at the invitation of the glass factory in Kutaisi, Pochkhua began his creative experiments with carving on crystal glass - in the style of the nationally characteristic plastic ornament.
