The Hakone Open-Air Museum opened in 1969 as the first open-air art museum in Japan. The museum's collections include about 100 masterpieces of Rodin, Bourdelle, Miro, Henry Moore and others in the garden; and Brancusi, Morie Ogiwara, Boccioni, Lipchitz, Modigliani, Shin Hongo and others inside.

The Hakone Open-Air Museum opened in 1969 as the first open-air art museum in Japan, founded by Nobutaka Shikanai, retired president of Japan's largest communications conglomerate, the Fujisankei Group. The Museum is located in grand nature of Hakone that was once called one of the most rugged paths in Japan
One of the most popular displays is Gabriel Loire's “Symphonic Sculpture” (1975)
Towering over 15 meter into the air, this stained glass tower leads visitors, via a spiral staircase, to an exhilarating rooftop view of the mountains
Gabriel Loire (1904 - 1996) was a French stained glass artist of the twentieth century. He founded the Loire Studio in Chartres, France which continues to produce stained glass windows
In addition to more than 450 installations in France, Loire's works are found in Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Japan, Chile, Canada, Australia and the United States of America
Henry Moore is one of the best-known and most popular 20th-century sculptors in Japan. Some people make analogies of Moore's sculptures to a rock in a Japanese garden….
