Bomun Tourist Complex is the international tourist district of Gyeongju. It is formed featuring Bomun Lake at its center, located 6km east of downtown Gyeongju. The dimensions of the area is 19.38 square km, and it is designated as a spa and special tourist district. This complex opened in April 1979. At the entrance the stream from Deokdongho Lake flows in, powering a water mill inside, and flows on to a 12m artificial waterfall. Within the Bomun Tourist Town are facilities traditionally designed architecture such as the tourist center used as international conference room, golf resort, shopping mall, and tourist hotels. It contains many amusement facilities such as a ferry port, Yukbu Village, Seonjae Art Gallery, Bomun Outdoor Performance Hall, drive-in theater, and Gyeongju World. The tourist complex attracts crowds of visitors in April, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom Gyeongju
Cheonmado, or the “Painting of the Heavenly Horse” on a saddle flap was discovered in 1973 in a Silla tomb, the Cheonmachong (Sky horse tomb). The horse, known as a Cheonma, has eight legs and is depicted with wings on its feet

Located in Bomun Tourist Complex, the stunning Hwangnyongwon was unveiled in 2016. It comprises two main structures; Jungdo Tower, a replica of the 9-story wooden pagoda at Hwangnyongsa Temple that dates back to 7th century Silla (BC 57~AD 935), and the Training Wing.
Hwangnyongsa Temple: Hwangnyongsa, meaning "temple of the yellow dragon,” was a Buddhist temple built in the 7th century during the Silla Kingdom (BC 57~AD 935) to ask for divine protection against neighboring foes. Standing nearly 80 meters high, it was the highest wooden structure in the world at the time but was burnt down during the Mongol invasion.
