That’s exactly why I have thought of sharing this guide to the common terms used in the pallet industry. So, let’s get started. ASTM The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) develops and maintains the shipping standards for wooden pallets. Block Pallet A wooden pallet with blocks in better the decks or blocks beneath the top deck. Deck The wooden boards or panels make the top or the bottom surface of the pallet. Exchange Pallet A pallet is used for multiple uses that are designed keeping a group of shippers and receivers in mind. Here, the possession of the pallet is transferred to the other person along with the ownership of the products shipped. These pallets are also known as pool pallets. The best place to find those is when you go through wooden pallets for sale. Four-Way Pallet It is a pallet with openings at both the opposite ends and sides. The name says it all for the pallet, a four-way entry pallet. Hardwood A block of wood from trees that have broadleaves. It does not necessarily mean dense or hard. Pallet Life The time during which the pallet can be used with its maximum capacity in terms of time or one-way trips.

2. Recycled Pallet A pallet made from the wood received from a pallet that has been used, discarded, repaired, or rebuilt to pass through another cycle of use. Skid A wood pallet without any bottom deck or deck boards. Softwood Wood derived from coniferous or needle-bearing trees is called softwood. They are not necessarily soft or low in density. Two-Way Pallets A pallet with two entries from both ends. It is with un-notched solid stringers that allow entry from the ends.
