Tennessee Beach (Golden Gate National Recreation Area), California, United States Tennessee Cove Beach, located in Mill Valley, is a remote and narrow dark sand beach within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Situated on the west side of Marin Headlands at the mouth of Tennessee Valley, this beach is surrounded by high rock walls and is popular for hiking and mountain biking. Tennessee Cove Beach offers basic amenities, including restrooms and trails, providing a starting point for various activities such as hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and beach exploration. From the northern end of the beach, visitors can view the shipwreck of the SS Tennessee steamship, adding a historical touch to the natural beauty. Nearby attractions include the Muir Beach Overlook Trail, a 30-minute drive from Tennessee Cove Beach. This trail leads to the Muir Beach Overlook, a former U.S. Army coastal observation post during World War II, offering stunning views of the Pacific cliffs and migrating blue whales from November to June.
