This project analyzes the post-graduation outcomes of higher education graduates from 2010 to 2014 through administrative data, aiming to provide detailed statistics on graduates' careers and earnings. By utilizing Unique Identifiers, the study avoids survey bias and offers insights into graduate destinations, sectors of employment, and earnings in various fields of study over time.

Matching Administrative Data • Administrative Data can have huge analytical potential beyond the scope of individual datasets. • Higher coverage and lower cost than surveys. • Particularly useful for longitudinal studies. • Promoting the use of Unique Identifiers for matching across administrative system is hugely important

National Data Infrastructure • The CSO has a formal role in promoting the use of unique identifiers for people, addresses and businesses across the administrative system. • Benefits of the National Data Infrastructure (NDI): • Unlock potential of administrative data • Improve existing statistical products & facilitate new innovative outputs • Allow networks to address shared problems

  4. National Data Infrastructure Implementation of NDI • Governance supports • ‘Top down’ activities – Civil Service Management Board, NDI ‘champions’ • Partnership activities – ‘pathfinder projects’ and CSO in-house partnerships • Rolling out the IGSS in the civil service

  5. Project Overview • Aim is to produce detailed statistics on the outcomes of Higher Education graduates • Make use of Administrative Data on Education, Employment, etc. instead of conducting surveys Examine: • What do Graduates do? • Where do Graduates work? • What do Graduates earn?

  6. Existing Process • Approximately 18,000 surveys each year • Huge administrative task • Low response rate in some sections (only 30% report earnings) • Potential for bias • Single point in time
