  2. Main Idea and Most Important Clause Article III is about the Judiciary Branch The important section and clause of article III is Section 2, Clause 1. It declares the extent of power the Judiciary Branch can exercise. It covers the jurisdiction of this branch of government One of these powers includes taking charge of all criminal cases and trials This clause is important because it limits powers of the Judiciary Branch as well as leave some room to add powers to the Branch There has never been a Judiciary Branch in gov’t before so this Clause provided some leeway

  3. The Principles Section 1 1st clause: This clause talks about how congress can establish lower courts other than the supreme court, which is mostly the judicial system What principle is that? Checks and Balances Section 2 1st Clause: This clause talks about the general powers of just the judicial system What principle is this? Separation of Powers 2nd Clause: Talks about how congress sets up the rules of the supreme court’s jurisdiction What principle is this? Checks and Balances

Separation of Powers 2nd Clause: This clause talks more about the punishments for treason and what cannot happen to someone convicted of treason What principle is this? Separation of Powers
