  2. ABOUT • Born in Daqing, 1962 • Graduated from Hebei university in 1983 majoring in oil painting • Moved from being an electrician, to an artist • In 1991, he moved to Yuanmingyuan to follow his career as a painter • Best known for the laughing character in many of his pieces

His Work • The laughing faces represent the feelings of the people after China’s reform, sad and happy at the same time • His art is a mixture of two contradictory feelings, miserable and pessimistic, but delightful and joyful Artist: Yue Minjun Title: Garbage Hill (2009) Medium: Prints and Multiples, Lithograph
