16. Creativity, action and service (CAS):
encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service work

17. Because of the greater degree of objectivity and reliability provided by the standard examination environment, externally marked examinations form the greatest share of the assessment for most subjects.

Presentation and essay
Analysis of knowledge claims, puts knowledge in context, encourages breadth of thinking and respect for knowledge in a range of academic fields.
Between them, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge can lead to up to 3 Core Points, which contribute to student point totals.
CAS – At least one afternoon per week. Essential for award of Diploma. No points, but 8 Learning Outcomes.
