Graduated Cylinder • Glass or plastic • Varies in size (small to large) • Precise amount of liquid • Graduations = “measurement lines” that increase from bottom to top
Safety goggles / goggles • Protects your eyes from chemicals/hazardous substances
Funnel • Precise pour from larger container to smaller container
Bunsen Burner • Heating/melting substances
Dropper Picks up small amounts of liquid Release liquid one-drop at a time
Thermometer • Glass • Measures how hot/cold a liquid is • Contains the element mercury = poisonous!!! • Not for use on your body!
Triple-beam Balance • Very fragile • Always hold with TWO hands • Determines the mass of an object • Ever stepped on a scale at the doctor’s office?? • Mass is similar but not the same as weight
Microscope VERY fragile! Always hold with TWO hands Observe very small objects/organisms
Microscope Slides & Coverslips • Slide = Glass • Coverslip = Plastic • Holds specimen in place under microscope • No creepy crawlers!

Dissecting tray • Size of binder paper • Keep specimen in here while dissecting • May/may not have rubber on the bottom
