  5. What does the research say? • Some cooperative learning is better than none at all. • Ability grouping is the least effective of all methods. • The dumb get dumber and the smart get smarter…duh! • Groups of 3-4 are optimal.

  6. Some General Guidelines • Apply cooperative learning consistently and systematically. • Be careful not to over use. • Group by ability sparingly.
