Two Decades of Probabilistic Verification – Reflections and PerspectivesLorentz Center WorkshopLeiden, the Netherlands, 12-16 November 2007
The Organizers: NWO/DFG Cooperation Program on “Validation of Stochastic Systems” (VOSS2)
Workshop Program • Monday: Tools • Tuesday: Applications • Wednesday: Theory + PhD/Postdoc sessions • Thursday: Theory + Excursion • Friday: Winding Up Much room for discussion and collaboration!!
Case Study: Gossip Networks Essential use of randomization Great potential for applications, e.g. in wireless sensor networks Many open issues!
PhD/Postdoc Session PhDs/postdocs are asked to prepare 5 slides (max) to present (a selected topic from) his/her research: • Research question/hypothesis • Relevance • Line of attack Presentation of 15 min (max) for small group followed by in depth discussion.
Some Questions • Should we combine tool efforts? • How can probabilistic model checking really make an impact? • Role of abstractions • How to handle dynamic topologies?
