IMPORTANTStudent Rights: FERPA The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act protects every student’s academic and financial records. • Cashier and One Stop employees can not discuss student records with anyone other than the student. • This policy applies to all service interactions including telephone, email and in person visits. • Students must present valid photo identification, such as a UNF ID card or a drivers license in order to receive service. Don’t get in line, go on line! • myWings is your “lifeline” at UNF. • Students are responsible for checking their myWings daily. • Most student questions and issues can be identified and resolved via myWings.

When is your tuition due? • Remember that UNF does NOT mail paper tuition bills or invoices. • It is the student’s responsibility to know the payment deadline each semester. • Payment deadlines are posted on the Academic Calendar, and the Cashierand One Stop websites. • Tuition payments made after the posted payment deadline are subject to Late Payment Fees.
How do you pay your tuition bill? Option 1: Pay Online • Students can pay tuition charges by credit card and e-check only online through their MyWings account. • Click “View & Pay My Bill” under the “Student” tab after logging into MyWings. • Acceptable Credit Cards: MasterCard, American Express, Discover. • UNF does not accept Visa Cards for tuition payments. • A 2.3% convenience fee will be added to your total payment.

Option 2: Cashiers Office Payment Drop Box. • Remember to place your check or money order in a sealed envelope. • Be sure to clearly label your payment with your name, student ID number and the term it should be applied to (Fall, Spring, Summer).

Option 3: pay by check or money order by mail UNF: Attention Cashier 1 UNF Drive Jacksonville, Florida 32224 • Make your check or money order payable to: UNF. • Be sure to clearly label your payment with your name, student ID number and the term it should be applied to (Fall, Spring, Summer). • Remember to place your check or money order in a sealed envelope. • Please note: mailed payments must be received by close of business on the payment deadline. Post marked dates will not be accepted as on-time payment.

Option 4: Pay in person at the Cashier’s office: We accept these types of payments at the Cashier’s office: • Cash • Personal Checks • Cashier’s Checks • Travelers Checks • Money Orders We do NOT accept these types of payments at the Cashier’s office: • Credit Cards: (only accepted online via myWings). • Starter Checks: (or any check that does not have the check writer’s name and address pre-printed on it).
Tuition charges are automatically deferred against awarded and accepted financial aid. • Financial aid can only be considered awarded if it appears in your MyWings account. • When you click the “View & Pay My Bill” option in MyWings, awarded aid will be identified as “estimated financial aid” and will be taken into account with your ‘current balance including estimated aid’ balance. • Any difference between awarded aid and the total tuition bill will be listed in the ‘current balance including estimated aid’. Balances are due on the payment deadline. • Tuition will only be deferred for approximately 5 weeks. After the deferment period expires, any unpaid balance will be assessed a $100 late payment fee. How do you defer your tuition charges if you have financial aid?
Please visit the Housing and Residence Life website for complete information. • Housing rent charges are not automatically deferred the way that tuition is. • Students who have enough financial aid to cover tuition, with additional aid remaining to defer housing rent charges must complete a “Housing Pending Worksheet” with the UNF Housing Office. • Housing Pending Worksheets will be mailed to all students with a housing contract. Worksheets can also be obtained at the UNF Housing office or by logging in to myHousing. • If you intend to defer housing charges against financial aid, the Housing Pending Worksheet must be submitted prior to the housing payment deadline. • Housing payment deadlines do not always coincide with tuition payment deadlines. • Check with the UNF Housing office or the UNF Housing and Residence Life website for payment deadlines. How can you defer your housing rent charges if you have financial aid?
Online bill not look right? Are you a Florida Resident? • You must have a completed and approved Florida Residency affidavit on file. • Residency must be granted prior to the payment deadline. • If your residency affidavit is incomplete you will be charged out of state tuition, which is roughly triple the price of in state tuition. • You must be granted residency in order to receive Florida Bright Futures. • You can confirm your Florida Residency Status on myWings. • If your Residency status is “Incomplete” or “Non Florida Resident”, contact One Stop Student Services immediately.
The UNF Cashiers office pulls Florida Pre-Paid from a statewide database for all students who register for classes. • Students do not need to present their Florida Pre-Paid card to the UNF Cashiers office for tuition. • Students who also have the Florida Pre-Paid Housing do have to present their card to the UNF Housing Office. • Student’s who have a Florida Pre-Paid plan that does notinclude local fees must pay the local fees by the payment deadline unless they have other financial aid to cover the local fees. Your Florida Pre-Paid Card will tell you if you have local fees. How does Florida Pre-Paid Work?
Students are allowed to have both programs. • A student will not be penalized on one program for having the other. • The award amounts for both Florida Bright Futures and Florida Pre-Paid are calculated based on the number of credit hours a student enrolls for. • Any credit balance on the student’s account after both programs have disbursed will be issued to the student in the form of a financial aid refund. How does Florida Bright Futures work with Florida Pre-Paid?
A term Financial Aid award that exceeds a student’s term charges creates a credit balance. • Financial aid credit balances are returned to a student in the form of a “refund”. • Refunds will not be issued until after financial aid has disbursed to your student account. • Disbursements begin after the drop/add period has expired. • Financial aid refunds must be direct deposited into the student’s checking/savings account. • Direct Deposit Enrollment Forms are available in the UNF Cashier’s office or on the Cashier’s office website. • As long as your bank account remains the same, you do not have to re-enroll in direct deposit. How will you receive your left over financial aid?

Registration after Orientation… At Orientation you received one on one guidance through the registration process. So what happens next? Registration is, for the majority of students, a smooth and stress-free process. Being prepared and informed is the best way to ensure that you are part of that majority. Here are some tips to help you: • See your academic advisor each semester before registration begins. Doing so will save you time and frustration when your time ticket begins. • Check your myWings portal well in advance of registration for holds that may prohibit you from registering. • Have a couple back-up plans. Anticipate course closures and have alternates that work with your schedule ready. • If you encounter registration “add errors” in myWings, read the instructions that appear next to and beneath the error notification. This will explain the error and tell you who to contact to resolve it. One Stop is here to assist you with many of the registration issues students encounter. While we can’t address every issue, we can offer guidance on someone who can.
It all starts with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA • FAFSA applications must be renewed each new academic year. • FAFSA applications should be filed early, by mid February. • UNF will use the results of your FAFSA to determine what aid you are eligible to receive. How do you apply for financial aid?
UNF uses your FAFSA results to determine what aid you are eligible for. • The FAFSA will calculate your Estimated Family Contribution or “EFC” • UNF will assign you a Cost Of Attendance budget or COA based on: • degree type (undergraduate vs graduate) • residency (Florida Resident vs non-Florida Resident • housing plans (on campus, off campus or at home with a relative) • UNF subtracts your EFC from your COA and then subtracts any financial aid resources you have been awarded. Examples of resources are: Florida Bright Futures, Veterans Benefits, Private Scholarships. • The result is your “financial need” • This process is repeated each new academic year with each new year’s EFC. COA - EFC - Resources = Financial Need
Many factors can effect a students estimated financial aid award: • If you receive a new award • If you are selected for verification • If your residency status changes • If you don’t register full time • If you drop or withdraw from classes • Financial aid is in constant flux and can change even after it disburses. Has your financial aid award changed?
New Aid resources such as Bright Futures, scholarships, grants and some types of VA benefits must count against financial need. • Each new resource will reduce the amount of need a student has. • If the addition of a new resource pushes a student beyond their calculated need, need-based programs must be reduced. • In this manner, your financial aid award can fluctuate throughout the course of the academic year.
33% of all FAFSA filers get randomly selected by the federal processor to have their college verify the information on their FAFSA against actual tax documents. • If you are selected for verification, any financial aid award you receive is estimated until your file has been verified. • You must submit the requested tax documents (found in your myWings portal) in a timely manner to allow UNF to verify your file. • If mistakes are found on the FAFSA, UNF is required to submit those corrections. This can cause a change in your EFC and therefore your estimated award. • Financial aid will not disburse until verification has been completed. • It is important that you monitor your myWings account daily during the verification process in case additional documentation is requested. You are selected for verification. What does this mean?
Scholarships: based on academic performance and sometimes financial need. • Grants: based on a student demonstrating financial need via the FAFSA. • Federal College Work Study: A self help employment placement based on demonstrating financial need via the FAFSA. • Federal Stafford Loan: A student self help loan program based on demonstrating need via the FAFSA. • Federal PLUS Loan: A parent self help loan program based on credit. Intended to assist with or replace EFC. What types of financial aid are available?

Need an official transcript? • Transcript request forms are available in the One Stop Lobby, or for download from the One Stop website. • Check myWings to be sure you don’t have any holds on your account that would prevent us from processing your request. • Make your check payable to UNF for $8.00 per transcript. • If you wish to pay in cash, you must do so in person in the Cashier’s office. Bring your receipt back to us with your completed request form. • For an additional $2.25 (10.25 total) transcripts can be ordered online via the National Student Clearinghouse website. • All transcript requests will be processed within 48 business hours.
Need an unofficial transcript? • To access your unofficial transcripts: • Log into myWings • Select the “Students” tab • Click on “Student Self Service”. • Select “Student Records” • Click “Academic Transcript” Unofficial transcripts are available free of charge from your myWings portal. Certain holds (ex: financial holds) will prohibit you from accessing your unofficial transcript. Check your myWings account for holds if you are unable to access your unofficial transcripts online via myWings.
Do you have a Parking Pass? Parking fines can affect your ability to add, drop and withdraw from classes. • All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid parking decal. • Any vehicle parked on campus without a parking decal will be ticketed. • Parking decals are purchased online via the Parking Services website and will be mailed directly to you. • Parking violations are paid for either online via the Parking Services website, or in person at the Parking Services Office. • Unpaid parking tickets will result in late payment fees and a financial hold on the student’s account. • Financial Holds prohibit you from adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses. They also prohibit you from obtaining transcripts. • Multiple unpaid tickets will cause your vehicle to be “booted” rendering it un-drivable and additional fees. • Visit the Parking Services website for detailed information including pricing, decal types and descriptions, and valuable tips on parking your vehicle at UNF.
