An Invitation to Water Festival in Chungho City Content: Dialog Source: Book 4 Lesson 2
Dialog: page 84~86 Jui-sen, an overseas student from Burma, runs into his American friend, Lucy. He invites her to the Water Festival activities in Chungho.
Jui-sen: Hello, Lucy! Say, what are you and your boyfriend doing this weekend? Lucy: Nothing. Why? Jui-sen: I want to invite you to come to Chungho. We’re having a big festival to celebrate the new year. Lucy: The New Year?
Jui-sen: The Burmese New Year. We celebrate it in April with a water festival. Lucy: A water festival? Sounds interesting. What’s it like?
Jui-sen: It’s really fun! Everyone just throws water on everyone else. We use hoses, buckets, anything we can find to get each other as wet as possible. Lucy: You’re kidding! And here I thought Asians were all so quiet and reserved. I can’t imagine them throwing water on each other.
Jui-sen: I guess we usually are pretty reserved, but at this time of year we forget everything and just have a crazy time! So will you join us? Lucy: Sure! I can’t wait. I’ll bring my umbrella! Jui-sen: You can if you want, but it won’t do you any good!
