PowerPoint Animation
Summary The Animations function is under the Animation label. Sometimes, you need organize your materials vividly. Thus, you can use animation to cheer up the audience. In the Animation label, there are: -Preview -Animation -Advanced Animation -Timing
Evaluation Advantages: It can make your PowerPoint has “Power” and “Point”. “Power” means you can convey your thoughts to audience in a deep way. “Point” means that the materials you add with animation should be emphasis. Disadvantage: If you use the animation not appropriately, for example, abusing of it, it will caused your audience disgusted. And it will indicate that you are not a professional experts in your field.
Step 1 When you want to add animation, click the label on the top of the window.
Step 2 The First Section is Preview. As the word meaning you see, you can preview your material affect after you add the animation you choose.
Step 3 The second section is Animation. In it there are two sub-section: Animation Styles and Effect Options.
Under the Animation Styles, you can chose your material’s Entrance effect, Emphasis effect, Exit effect and motion path. At the very bottom, you can get more effects and motion paths of these four parts.
Under the Effect Options, you can chose the direction of your material. And you can chose the Sequence as well. If you have more than one material on one page, this function will be helpful.
Step 4 Under Advanced Animation, you can add another effect or motion path on your object which already have an animation styles or motion path. If you click on the Trigger button, you can adjust the start condition for an animation. If you click Animation Painter, you can copy animation from one to another. If you double click, it is easy and convenient for you to copy same animation to multiple objects.
Under Animation Pane, you can re-order your object’s effects sequence.
Step 5 Under Timing section, you can adjust your time of object’s animation effect and motion path. Including start time, duration and delay. Also you can reorder animation here.
Troubleshooting -If the multiple Animation effects on one object is not go through like what you expect, you should check the animation pane first. Do you choose the right order of the each animation effect?
PowerPoint Adding music to slides
Music is a great way to grab the attention of your audience. Music is a universal language. When choosing music, consider your type of presentation and your audience. Are you trying to motivate or relax your audience. Perhaps your trying to evoke emotion or be comical. Never use music with foul language or crude lyrics. In order to be a professional, you must present a professional atmosphere.
Microsoft PowerPoint does not have the capabilities to embed a sound file, but a PowerPoint slide can be linked to a sound file.
This can be done with a compact disc, thumb drive, or whatever medium that is used to present the PowerPoint.
Linking the file: Download the music file to the compact disc, thumb drive, etc. in which the PowerPoint will be downloaded. Create the PowerPoint presentation and select the slide for the music file.
Linking the file: • Go to insert • Audio (far right) • Drop down to Audio from File • Select your file from your compact disc, thumb drive, etc. • Once your music file has been selected, choose Insert. Note: The music file and PowerPoint must be on the same memory device.

Music during a presentation can grab the audience’s attention and create an atmosphere to enhance your presentation. Be very considerate in choosing your music and keep in mind that the music can draw your audience or alienate them.
PowerPoint shapes-graphics
Shapes are an added formatting tool in Power Point to add graphics to a presentation. • Shapes also add a sense of expression to a comment and an added design to clip art. • PowerPoint has a lot of design and shape options to choose from.
Shapes Dialog can also be added for formatting in a slide presentation The advantage shapes provide to a PowerPoint are the geometric and non geometric look to a presentation and slide show. Shapes in PowerPoint To add a shape in PowerPoint click on Insert, then the Shape button. It is easily accessible. A variety of shapes and designs appear. Click on any design and an icon will appear. Drag the icon to desired area and click. Shape or design will appear in framed box. Change shape
Moving-Resizing Shapes A predefined size will appear. Make larger or smaller by dragging framed outline inward or outward. Make shapes by clicking pointer on item and dragging to desired point. To move a shape the pointer must look like this
Color and Texture Click Pointer on shape – right click Fill Color Button on Formatting Menu Click More Fill Color Dialog Appears Click on desired color –insert Shapes also have an outline by by default in which color is changed by same steps as above. This will open the color dialogue box
Adding Texture Another great addition to adding shapes is a texture can also be implemented. Click on shape Right click-Fill Color Button Select Texture Select Texture Scroll down to Texture Click on Textured Desired What’s your favorite pattern?
Summary Shapes also has Callouts where written inserts of content can be added to a Power Point Presentation to express a text format such as in a cartoon dialog. Shapes can be added or deleted at any point by right clicking, and then clicking cut. Lines and Squiggly lines can be stretched and crossed to be redirected. Shapes can also be placed on designs and pictures such as Clip Art by directing it to the area and clicking on it. Also, Shapes add a unique geometric and non geometric feature to PowerPoint Presentation which adds to a professional formatting slide.
PowerPoint editing clip art
Summary • Clip art can be edited so that it is unique to your presentation. • Learn to: • Pull a portion of the clip art from the picture • Change the color of the clip art • Combine features of clip art
Step 1 Start by clicking the Insert tab, then clip art
Step 2 Select the clip art you wish to use
Step 3 Right click on image Go to group Select ungroup 1
Step 4 Click off the clip art Then click back on to any portion to be changed Right click, then select “cut” to delete a portion 2 Before After- Background had to be selected And cut for each piece to be removed
Step 5 To change color of clip art: With art still “ungrouped” select portion to change Right click in selection Choose format shape Select solid fill Choose color The Format menu can also be used 3 Before After
Step 6 To combine different elements of clip art: Select clip art to be used Follow step 3 Select and move elements to be used Or delete elements from background as in step 4 4 + =
Step 7 To put pictures back together: Right click select group, then regroup Or to combine both pictures into one: Drag mouse around pictures and press Ctrl + G 5
Troubleshooting If entire picture gets cut when trying to remove a portion: Ensure the picture is ungrouped as shown in step 3 If fill color covers the entire picture: Ensure the picture is ungrouped as shown in step 3 If the picture needs to be moved, and only a portion of the Picture moves: Regroup the picture
