Internship Objectives • To obtain multiple sponsors for annual summer camps to aid in camp funding. • To assist with summer camp preparations and operations before and during its course of action. • To organize camp data and information to aid in year to year preparations. • To organize general office information and documentation to better assist current coaching staff.
Daily Activities • Day to day activities included a great deal of preparation and organization of camp and sponsorship information. Like all work places, a few days included a light work load, but most were very busy. I would normally start out the morning checking emails, calendars, and consulting with Erich Birch, my internship supervisor, for things to be done throughout the day. During the afternoons, I would finish up assignments given to me in the morning, while helping other staff members with tasks around the office. When the end of the day began to approach, I would again consult with my supervisor about things that needed to be done between the time I left the office and the time I arrived the next day. Fortunately, most days would end between 4pm and 5pm and I would return the next day to do it all over again.
Project Description • My internship project consists of obtaining sponsorships from local and corporate businesses for the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball summer basketball camps. The basis for this project is to help offset the costs of each camp, while creating a relationship between certain businesses and the Texas A&M Women’s Basketball team. I was to solicit information to a variety of people in a one-on-one meeting and to prepare a notebook with sponsorship information to help better my strategy. I was also required to keep an on-going list/journal of each task, keep in contact, and follow up with each sponsor throughout the summer. It is also required to keep a database to help future interns accommodate and obtain sponsorships in the upcoming years.
A Special Thanks to: • Mr. Shane Hudson, Director of Internships • Mr. Erich Birch, Internship Supervisor • Dr. Armstrong, Interim Department Head • Texas A&M Women’s Basketball Department • Those businesses who helped make my internship successful.
