Bull and the horse are both important figures in Spanish culture Some say the bull and the horse represent the Loyalists and the Republicans Some say Bull: Aggressors, Horse: victims (it is being stabbed with a javelin) When asked about the painting, Picassos said “I am expressing my horror of the military caste which is now plundering Spain into an ocean of misery and death."
