Infection Control in ICU equipment and infection control
Infection control policy for ICU equipments Face masks are in contact with intact skin, But these items are frequently contaminated by secretions from patients and have been implicated in causing cross infection.
Other ICU equipments All equipments that touches intact skin, or does not ordinarily touch the patient at all, are cleaned with a detergent at the end of the day or whenever visibly contaminated.
Surfaces of machines The surfaces of machines and monitoring equipment, especially those areas which are touched by the workers’ hands, should be cleaned daily.
