VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP • Recruiting ALM’s to Chapters Purpose: Increase overall chapter size; increase individual chapter affiliation percentage; increase revenues to chapters through SHRM’s Chapter Financial Support Program; increase overall retention in SHRM.

VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP Communication/Promotion: • Invite at-large members to attend a meeting as a guest of the chapter (complimentary) • SHRM assistance in creating language for invitation as high-level marketing piece for chapters • SHRM e-mail to at-large members in area of participating chapters encouraging chapter membership and attendance at launch event • Chapter Task Force to place phone calls to at-large members
VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP Launch Event (CONT.): • Secure high level speaker addressing a strategic HR issue for program (SHRM can provide assistance) • Provide opportunity for networking with chapter members • Provide gift for at-large members • Welcome to all guests prior to speaker by chapter president or top HR executive in the community who is also a chapter member • Provide chapter and SHRM materials on benefits on chapter membership, in addition to chapter membership applications • Assure that each at-large member is ‘hosted’ by a current chapter member • Offer two month’s complimentary membership in chapter
VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP Follow-Up: • Follow-up communication/promotion sent to at-large members reinforcing two-month complimentary membership and inviting them again to take advantage of this offer.
VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP Program Evaluation: • Report SHRM membership prior to event; a follow-up report one month after event; a second follow-up report two months after event.

VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP • Launch Event (cont.): • Provide following SHRM materials: • Benefits of SHRM Membership • SHRM membership application • Guide to SHRM Online • ‘What SHRM Can Do for You’ PowerPoint • Program to feature also an opportunity for other SHRM members to talk about how they have benefited from being a SHRM member. • Offer of trial membership may be offered at these events in the future depending on success of pilot(s).
VA SHRM STATE COUNCIL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE-MEMBERSHIP Event Follow-Up: • Follow-up promotion with link to online membership application sent directly to LMOs (with chapter approval) or through chapters with SHRM and chapters collaborating on promotion.
