There are three clear paragraphs and each paragraph sticks to the same point. Migration polices such as the ‘Open Door’ policy which the UK had in the 50’s & 60’s caused tensions because many migrants arriving from India & Pakistan took jobs in factories and on busses, (1 mark) which upsets locals, because they believed they should be getting those jobs and can cause resentment (1 mark) Other tensions can occur because some migrants do not always learn the host countries languageand only live in communities with other migrants, (1 mark) which means they do not integrate and can cause social divisions within cities, which can lead to ignorance and racism (1 mark) Another tension is because local people in the UK might feel their own culture is being lost of diluted, (1 mark) because religious buildings such as mosques or restaurants from the migrants countries appear in their local area. (1 mark) The answer uses geographical terminology. Each paragraph has a ‘development point’ that EXPLAINS the previous point. It does this by DESCRIBING or EXPLAINING HOW or WHY it is a problem. e.g. ‘and this is a tension because .......... ‘
