Intro/overview In early 2013, the City re-constituted the Long Range Planning Commission to consist of chairs (vice chairs) of all commissions and representation from public and the Economic Development Authority. The Long Range Planning Commission is the working commission for the Comprehensive Plan Update. In April of 2013, the City initiated the process with a joint Commission/City Council meeting. In the spring of 2013, the Long Range Planning Commission reviewed proposals from different consulting firms. The city ultimately selected Stantec to guide the City through the update process.

Public Process The Long Range Planning Commission has held 13 public LRPC meetings regarding the Comprehensive Plan Update In September, Stantec presented at the City’s Town Hall Meeting In October, 2013 the City Held a Public Forum, which was attended by nearly 50 people.
Public Process In November of 2013, staff presented Comprehensive Plan Update to the Chamber. In December of 2013, the city held a separate meeting with the Chamber. In December of 2013, the city held a second Community Forum.
Public Process In 2014, the Long Range Planning Commission continued their regular meetings to develop the Comprehensive Plan. In April of 2014, the Long Range Planning Commission reviewed the first draft of the Comprehensive Plan. In July of 2014, the Long Range Planning Commission recommended that the plan move forward to the Implementation phase.
Next Steps Final Commission review and discussion in September, 2014. Public Hearing at the Long Range Planning Commission on September 22, 2014. Final Recommendation by the Long Range Planning Commission on October 27, 2014. City Council Review and Possible Adoption in November, 2014.
