Olympic Games

Sochi was named the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics during the 119th session of the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala on June 4, 2007. It won the bid against Salzburg (Austria) and PyeongChang (South Korea). The games will be held for the second time in Russia, following the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. The event will feature both the Winter Games and the subsequent snow Paralympic Games. The 2014 Winter Olympics mascots include the Polar Bear, Leopard, and Snow Bunny, while the Paralympic Games mascots are Ray and Snowflake. The slogan for the games is "Hot..Cool..Yours". The Olympic Torch Relay began in Moscow on October 7, 2013, and will conclude in Sochi on February 7, 2014. The competitions will encompass fifteen winter sports disciplines across seven Olympic sports.

  2. Sochi - capital of Winter Olympic Games 2014 Sochi was named the capital of the 2014 Winter Olympics during the 119 session of the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala June 4, 2007. Sochi won Salzburg (Austria) and PyeongChang (South Korea)
