  2. WHO we are? Bátonyterenye was created in 1984 by the unification of three villages (Nagybátony, Kisterenye, Szúpatak). The new settlement became a city in 1989. Bátonyterenye was a typical socialist mining city.

  3. ABOUT OUR HISTORY… The town already existed in the Middle Ages, but information on it is scarce, it is likely that it was a small village..

  5. History of industrial development Development came in the mid-19th century, when a coal mine was opened nearby. The job opportunities provided by the mine and the developing industry began to attract people. The coal mines have been closed years ago, leaving the city with high unemployment rates.

  9. Industrial park They will produce 500 pool covers in the first phase and will double capacity later. Employment at the plant will increase to 70 from an initial 25.

  10. Industrial park Furniture maker Sinia Bútorgyártó is building a plant at a cost of HUF 1.7 billion (€5.78 million) . Production at the plant will start in one year with 150 workers, European Union funding and state co-financing is covering 44% of the investment. It exports leather sofas and chairs to Western Europe, mainly the Benelux countries and France.
