Community Assessments • Starting 1 July 2018 community assessments began being required for global grants • Increases understanding of community dynamics • Helps you make decisions about service priorities • Builds valuable relationships • Encourages community member participation • Helps to build trust, community ownership and sustainability
Community Assessments - Tips • Listen carefully • Remain open minded • Encourage diverse input and opinions • Identify local skills and assets • Ask host or local leaders to introduce you • Don’t promise a project before you make a decision
Global Grant Scholarships • Deadline: 30 June 2019 • $30,000 minimum • Minimum one year of graduate-level study in one of six areas of focus • Intl sponsoring club in District 6440; host club overseas in country of study
District Grant Updates • New eligible activities for DG funding: • Community Assessments • Project Fairs
International Sponsor Reporting Waiver for Global Grants • Trustee decision • Effective January 2019 • International sponsor waived from overdue reports if they did not receive global grant funds • Reporting still required, but will not count against international partner • Humanitarian GG projects only
