Where are the shortages? • In the professionals & associated professionals occupations • Accountants and trainee accountants • Qualified black people, especially in the higher level occupations and professional designations

LCG 2007/2008 Continued • Application due 31 March 2008 • Fasset and other selected learnerships • Extensions to be submitted by 31 March 2008 • Tax deduction is available to firms who employ ANY learner on a learnership

Development Projects • Three Work Readiness Programmes in operation • Includes employability and soft skills • Learners available for uptake and recruitment • Place 70% of learners on learnerships, internships or permanent employment in Fasset sector.
1. Bonani • Looking to the Future • 450 unemployed Black commerce graduates • Work readiness programme that combines soft skills and academic skills • 400 accounting and 50 bookkeeping
2. Itukisa • Getting Ready or Preparing Oneself • 30 unemployed Black graduates • 6-week work readiness training programme in selected technical and soft skills required for CA environment
3. Thusanani • Tshivenda phrase Help Each Other • 400 unemployed Black graduates in batches of 100, over 2 years • Work readiness, employability and soft skills • Encompassing the critical skills areas in the sector • Provide comprehensive mentor (learner support) programme
